We want everyone in our communities to lead healthier lives that are well lived.

In 2018, alongside our communities, we developed ourA Healthier Mid and West Walesstrategy,to guide our health and care servicesat Hywel Ddaover the next 20 years, ensuring that we and future generations can live well.Ourstrategy sets the overall direction for health and care in mid and west Wales(Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire).

Over the past six years, we have made significant strides towards achieving the goals of our strategy. For example, we have:

  • supported more patients in our communities

  • significantly reduced our nursing vacancies through international recruitment and improved retention

  • combined some of our services to work better together

  • signed up to the Social Model for Health and Wellbeing (SMfHW) Charter

However, we have also faced numerous challenges that have impacted our ability to deliver the strategy, including:

  • the COVID-19 pandemic

  • cost of living crisis

  • long waiting lists

  • an ageing population

  • medical staff recruitment challenges

With these challenges in mind, we are looking to ensure our strategy continues to support you to live a healthier life, alongside providing safe, quality, and sustainable care across primary, community, and hospital settings, both now and in the future.

We want to hear from you!

We invite you to share your thoughts and ideas on what we should consider as we continue to implement our strategy. Your input is invaluable in helping us futureproof our plans and ensure they meet the needs of our communities. We are committed to engaging with staff, the public, and partners to fully contribute, as we look to review our A Healthier Mid and West Wales strategy.

Thank you for being a part of this important conversation. Together, we can shape a healthier future for Mid and West Wales.
