The GP Partners at Cross Hands and Tumble Surgery have made the difficult decision to resign the General Medical Services contract they hold with the Health Board to operate the Practice with effect from 31st March 2024. This follows the recent resignation of a Partner and unsuccessful attempts over recent years to recruit another GP Partner to continue the Practice.
Patients registered with Cross Hands and Tumble Surgery should remain registered at the Practice and should continue to access services such as appointments and prescriptions as normal. Care will continue to be provided by the same Practice team until the end of March 2024, while the Practice and Health Board work to find a longer-term solution that secures this important service.
The Health Board is working with stakeholders locally to develop a long-term solution for this important service for your area. As part of this work the Health Board wants to hear your views as a patient on what matters to you about the services you need from your GP Practice, and how any changes to the way services are delivered after March 2024 may affect you.
Following the drop-in event in Tumble Hall on 8 November, a second drop-in public engagement event will now be held on Tuesday 21 November 2023, any time between 3pm and 6pm at Cross Hands Workingmen’s Club, 41 Llandeilo Road, Cross Hands, Carmarthenshire Wales, SA14 6RD (near Lidl).
Alternatively, you can contact the Health Board to feedback your views to us:
By telephone to the Health Board’s Communications Hub on 0300 303 8322 (option 5)
By writing to us and/or completing the questionnaire and posting it to ‘FREEPOST HYWEL DDA HEALTH BOARD’. Alternatively, you can drop off your completed questionnaire at a collection box at Cross Hands or Tumble Surgery. Please also complete the equality monitoring questionnaire included, as this helps us make sure that we are gathering views from all parts of the community. Both questionnaires are anonymous.
In addition, you can feed back your views to Llais at www.llaiswales.org
Please feedback your views by Sunday 26th November 2023.
The feedback the Health Board receives from patients and stakeholders will form an important part of the consideration and decision-making by the Health Board on how services will be delivered from March 2024 onwards.
The Health Board appreciates the continuing support given by the community to the team at Cross Hands and Tumble Surgery through this challenging period.
