Carmarthenshire County Council has partnered with Hywel Dda University Health Board and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David to bring a new, health and well-being Hwb to the town. The
The old retail store will be transformed into a state-of-the-art health and well-being Hwb, as well as offering educational, leisure and family entertainment facilities. The following Health Board services will be delivered from the Hwb:
Podiatry: General treatment team, Specialised services (vascular assessment, Diabetic MDT (Foot Protection Team), Orthopaedic CMATS (Podiatry), MSK clinics, Safe and Steady clinics, ulcer prevention/management clinics, minor procedures (toenail surgery) and Surgical Appliances)
Sexual and Reproductive Health: General sexual health services, Termination of pregnancy services, Long-acting contraception services
Community Dental Service: Including Urgent Dental Care service (via NHS 111, Dental Health promotion team, Design to Smile (children’s oral health team), Gwen am Byth (care home oral health team)
Public Health Wales - Diabetic Eye Screening Wales: Screening service to detect diabetic retinopathy
Community Nursing: Continence clinic, Leg ulcer clinic, Catheter clinic, CNS Heart failure clinic, Community Nursing IVs, Ear micro-suction clinic
People and Development: Learning and Development, Future Workforce, Clinical Education, Manual Handling training
Children’s & Young Persons Therapies & Occupational Therapy: Lymphoedema, Children & Young People’s Physio, Community Neuro and Frailty / Falls programs, Pulmonary rehab, MSK (musculoskeletal) group-based programmes
Child Health Psychology: Supports psychology needs of children with physical health needs, supports diabetic service and ADHD services
Children’s Community Nursing: Children with complex needs, Palliative care in the community, Specialist nursing for diabetes and epilepsy, 0–25-year-old disabilities team
