From 20 May 2024, most blood test services for people who live in the Llanelli area will be provided from the Mass Vaccination Centre at Dafen, Llanelli.

Moving blood test services from Antioch Centre to Dafen is in response to feedback from our patients who have raised concerns about our service in Llanelli. Patients have previously shared feedback on the lack of availability of parking, room for patients waiting for their appointment, and the length of our waiting list.

We are aware that some people who use public transport to travel to Dafen may need additional support. To support patients who use public transport, blood test appointments will be available on two days a week at Prince Philip Hospital. As parking is a challenge at Prince Philip Hospital, these appointments will be limited to patients using public transport.

The online booking system, and phone line, for booking of blood test appointments will stay. By moving the service to Dafen we will, over time, be able to increase the number of appointments available and address some of the issues raised by our patients.

The move to the Mass Vaccination Centre in Dafen is a temporary move, as our longer-term ambition will include moving the service to be part of the Pentre Awel development in 2025.

The feedback you share with us will be taken into account when considering any support that we need to put in place to help you to access blood test services at either Dafen or Prince Philip Hospital.

Please help us to understand how this change will affect you as a service user by completing the survey below by 26 June 2024.

If you would prefer to share your views in person, or if you have any questions, you are welcome to join us at the drop-in events.

Two drop-in events will be held on Wednesday 8 May, and Tuesday 14 May, 2024, at the Antioch Centre in Llanelli – please drop-in to see us any time between 3pm and 6pm.
